Church of the Week
Cardiff, City of Cardiff
The current building is the third church on this site. The first, built in 1857, was a converted barn, which was replaced with an iron structure in 1874. However, the surrounding population was growing rapidly, so the parish was soon in need of a bigger, more permanent structure. A new building was eventually completed in 1884. St German's is a Grade I listed building owing to it's interior elegance. It is one of the finest examples of Victorian religious architecture in Wales, and was designed by the influential architect George Frederick Bodley.
