ENQUIRY STAGE
Initial enquiries regarding weddings in Saint Thomas’s Church at Woodbridge or in Saint Clare’s Church at Framlingham should be made in person. No wedding bookings will be taken over the telephone or by e-mail. Please remember that it is important to approach the Church first before making your plans for a reception venue.
We do not have weddings on a Sunday.
It is customary for a minimum of six months notice to be given by the bride and the groom before a wedding is celebrated in the parish.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE
All couples are required to complete a marriage preparation course with the Diocese of East Anglia before their wedding. The Mariage and Family Life Commission of the diocese have published details of the course and other useful information about weddings and married life here: Marriage Preparation Programme
COUPLES WHO DO NOT LIVE IN THE PARISH
If you are uncertain as to whether or not your place of domicile is within the boundaries of the Parish of Woodbridge and Framlingham, details of the parish's boundaries may be viewed here: Parish Boundaries
Bishop Alan Hopes has reminded us that marriages are to be celebrated in the home parish of the Catholic party or of either of them if both the bride and the groom are Catholic (Canon 1115).
The parish priest of the Catholic party, or one of them, may give permission for the marriage to take place in another Catholic church, but this must be for an appropriate reason, such as it being their regular place of worship or they have a longstanding family connection with the church. Ad Clerum. March 2021.
